Support for Children and Families
Family ACCESS Counseling and Consultation Services provides preventative, comprehensive, and social-emotional support to young parents and their children (0-5 years of age), with the goal of strengthening family relationships and reaching individuals’ full potential.
For more than 40 years, Counseling and Consultation Services has been committed to serving families in Newton, Framingham, Waltham, and surrounding communities. The success of our Young Parent Support (YPS) program lies in the culturally competent and strength-based prevention and support services designed specifically for pregnant and parenting teens and young adults.
Families reach out to us with needs that include:
- Complex Pregnancy and parenting challenges
- Difficulty managing basic needs of household
- Support with transition to parenting for young adults
- Difficulty understanding infants’ and children’s social-emotional concerns (such as tantrums, difficult transitions, separation, grief)
- Cross-cultural parenting for teens or young adults
- Impact of parental mental health (anxiety, depression, marital stress) on young children
- Culturally relevant and evidence based parenting support groups

Our creative service model is based upon respectful and trusting long-term relationships with families and provides sustainable interventions that impact the quality of a family’s life.
Young Parent Support
Pregnant teens and young parents receive specialized support to be able to better care for their new family. The program focuses on enhancing their parenting skills and the parent-infant attachment relationship. We also work to ensure that young parents recognize their own needs and achieve their own goals for education, job training, and engagement in healthy relationships.
Young Parenting Support Services for pregnant women or young parents (under age 25)
- Case management with referrals to community providers and concrete resources
- Counseling during the transition to parenthood
- Support with accessing services (ie. WIC, education, work, housing, immigration related concerns)
- Parent coaching and mentoring
- Help with complex family situations
- Advocacy for clients within state and local agencies and organizations
