Providing access to opportunity for over 100 years
Founded in 1907 as a forward-thinking day nursery for the children of local laborers, FamilyACCESS (formerly Newton Community Service Center) has become an integral part of the community and a safety net for thousands of families each year. In our first century of developing and promoting innovative community support services, we have taken an active role in such institutions as full-day child care; a baby clinic; a youth center, domestic skills and recreation programs; two women’s clubs; the All Newton Music School; the Newton Job Bank; the Newton Senior Citizens Committee; an adult day care center; and a senior volunteer program, RSVP, now known as SOAR 55.
As we prepare for our next 100 years, we find our services are more critical than ever. We see growing demand for support services, and shrinking state and federal funds. In the face of those challenges, we remain deeply committed to providing the very best education-based resources and programs, to opening doors to opportunity, and to helping families of all kinds achieve their goals for the present, and their dreams for the future.
